LinkedIn Festival 2015

LinkedIn is setting out to revolutionize the way HR is viewed in the eyes of the world. From Friday, July 31st to Saturday, August 1st, LinkedIn will be hosting a non-technical hackathon.

Throughout this 16-hour event, interns will not be building an app or a website, but rather will solve a big, complex business problem with an innovative, game-changing idea. The event is FREE to attend and there will be plenty of FREE food, drinks, activities, music, swag, and networking opportunities. The best teams will showcase their project to a panel of expert, high-profile judges for a chance to win killer prizes.

What is a non-technical hackathon?

Think hackathon meets case competition.

Teams of tech and non-tech interns will come together to brainstorm, strategize, and create a solution to one of the toughest HR problems (via a case prompt) faced by companies in various industries (technology, banking, medical, etc.). Interns are encouraged to creatively and collaboratively attack the prompt by rethinking HR and creating effective and adaptable solutions that will reshape companies’ business strategies.

Ultimately, teams will present their final solution to the given prompt using power point slides. The solution itself can be an advertising/marketing campaign, a conceptual pitch for a product design, a business proposal, a schematic for a demo… the options are endless! Note: interns are not expected to produce a working prototype. Additionally, those who wish to go this route will not be given extra points; however, they will receive some serious bragging rights.

Who is eligible?

Undergraduate or Graduate Students interning in the Bay Area. Any field, any industry. All applicants must be currently enrolled in a full time degree program (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) and returning to the program after the completion of their internship.

Once you register, we will get back to you on the status of your application within 3-5 business days.

How are teams formed?

Each participant is required to register individually prior to the event, and team registration will take place onsite between 6:00pm-9:00pm on the day of the event. No team? No worries. You can either participate individually or you can form teams with other interns before the festival kick-off. Please note that there is a limit of 5 interns per team.

What will you be doing?

Bay Area Interns will engage in fun activities and hack the night away to solve some of the biggest HR problems worldwide! LinkedIn is providing the unique opportunity for everyone (technical and non-technical interns) to generate brilliant ideas and showcase their skills through pitches, projects, and presentations.
